小小宝贝’s First ePTM

小小宝贝’s First ePTM

The first ePTM (parent teacher meeting) ever since he started primary school. We didn’t have one last year due to covid.

“I can’t believe it! 弟弟‘s teachers said he’s such a well behaved boy in class, very quiet (huh!!!) not a social butterfly (huh!!), very focused and attentive blah blah blah. His Chinese teacher even said he’s the most responsible 小组长 and can be entrusted with everything. When I told them he made friends with the boy standing behind him while queueing for chicken rice, they were totally surprised!”

姐姐-“Erm Mummy, did you remember to write his name as your nick when you joined the zoom meeting?”

“Hmm… I forgot. I used my own name.” “Maybe they thought you were another student’s Mummy and they were not referring to him. 🤷🏻‍♀️”
“Good point there!! There were talking about his classmate and not him!”

弟弟-“I’m a very good boy in school ok!!! 😡”

“Then why are you so naughty at home? I’m going to send your home videos to your teachers so that they can see your true colours!!”
“Nooo….!!!! 😭” #evilmom #siginna #devilathomeangelinschool

That’s his art homework (surrealism – incorporate a vegetable or fruit into drawing). A cucumber boat.

Ming Ming’s Diary – Amazing Race

Ming Ming’s Diary – Amazing Race

While Mama was having team building and Papa was working, we were having our own amazing race at home!!

Jie Jie!! That’s a foul! You are blocking me from getting the the pit stop!!

Jie Jie!! 😡

Rule of the game : whoever gets there 2nd wins the game! Cool ya??

And the winner gets a sticker on the face!! Check out my trophies! *points to stickers on my face*

HEHEHEHEHE!!

Weird… why is everyone giving me strange looks???

They look at me, then point at me and start to giggle. 😒

Hmm…

Oh well, it must be the stickers that enhanced my looks so much that people take notice of me.

Or are they awed by my chariot riding skills??

Ehhh! Someone, tell me!! You there!! Stop laughing!!!

The Story of the Missing Raisin – 小小宝贝

The Story of the Missing Raisin – 小小宝贝

My not-so-new New Year resolution is to blog more… I do have a lot which I want to share, but I simply must pen them down before I forget them!!

Somehow, when 小小宝贝 first learnt about numbers, he had decided to adopt “8” as his favourite number and thus, til today, everything comes in eights…. not 7, not 9, but 8!!!

小小宝贝 : (pushing his raisins around his bowl with his finger) Mama, you didn’t give me 8 raisins! (in his loud, indignant, righteous voice!)

Me : Of course I did! I counted them as I put them into your bowl.

小小宝贝 : No you didn’t!!

Me : count them yourself! I gave you 8! And that’s it! No more raisins!!

小小宝贝 : ok! I’m counting!! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7… 9!! See!! You didn’t give me 8 raisins!! No. 8 is missing!!! (glared at me as thought it’s my fault!!)

Me : No…! After 7 is 8!!! Not 9!

小小宝贝 : You didn’t give me 8 raisins!!

Me : …… (Trying to pull a fast one on me!!) It should be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8! See! 8!

小小宝贝 : It’s 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and this is no. 9!! No. 8 is missing!

Me : Ok.. since this is raisin no. 9, so it’s not raisin no. 8. Correct??

小小宝贝 : (nodded his head fervently)

Me : ok. (popped raisin no. 9 into my mouth) No more raisin no. 9.

小小宝贝 : Noooo…..!!!! YOU ATE MY RAISIN!!! RETURN ME MY RAISIN!!!!!

Me : (I can’t believe this is over one tiny piece of dried up fruit.) See… now it’s 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8! 8 raisins!!

小小宝贝 : Nooooo…!!! You ate my 8th raisin!!!! (Wailed as though I had killed his mother… )

Me : Shall I return you raisin no. 8??

小小宝贝 : (nodded tearfully)

Me : there! Raisin no. 8. Are there 8 raisins in the bowl now???

小小宝贝 : (nodded but still giving me the evil eye…)

Greedy Toddler

And So.. Humpty Didi Had A Bad Fall…

And So.. Humpty Didi Had A Bad Fall…

All it took was a slippery ground after water play and the metal floor track of the sliding door. Humpty Didi slipped and landed his shin on the metal track.

He said that he cried “not very loudly” and no one paid him any attention so he picked himself up and limped into the classroom.

My heart went out to him when I heard it. The teachers probably didn’t think much of it since he didn’t bawl his eyes out. But he was unable to rest his weight on his left leg.

I googled his condition online and read that there’s a possibility of toddler fracture (hairline fracture).

Still as cheeky as ever.

Ming Ming : Caroline’s 奶奶 (grandmother) said I’m buat Toh (with an English slang). But, Mommy, I’m not Buat Toh. I’m Cheng Ming!! (Indignantly)

*Buat Toh is hokkien for fall down.

Simple Joys in Life

Simple Joys in Life

While 2000-4000 (reported by different sources) protested in the drizzle at Hong Lim against the White Paper, I was snuggling in bed with my littlest one.

Getting him to sleep is not easy. He’s wildly alert and loves entertainment ranging from lame jokes, whistling, dancing, by his parents and doting sister. That’s of course, secondary to his primary need for milk (survival instincts).

To have him snuggle and cradled in my arm is pure joy. Watching his little eyelids flutter gently as sleep takes over him is a kind of pleasure that is unique. His quiet breathing, shown by his little tummy just compounds it. He will remain little for so short a time. This time I must savour every minute of it as it will never return.

To take note of every little joy in life is a new resolution that I’ve made. This includes not taking everything I own for granted, to cherish what I have.

The country life I led in Germany years ago opened my eyes to the blue skies, white clouds, green fields, my nose to the fragrance of the fresh air and flowers and my other senses to other aspects of life. But, after coming back to the city, the hustle and bustle of it has made me forget what I’ve learnt to appreciate.

Well, it’s not too late to remember. And my little ones’ childhoods will come and go by.

I Feel so Touched… T.T

I Feel so Touched… T.T

The hub is in India for a few days on business. In the middle of the first night, I heard someone tip toe into my room. I turned around and saw 宝贝 climbing stealthily up my bed, clutching her little bolster. She hasn’t come to my room in the middle of the night for months.

She said “mama” in a soft voice and snuggled against me.

The next day, she told grandma about it.

宝贝 :爸爸在印度。妈妈自己睡。(Daddy is in India. Mama was sleeping alone.)
婆婆:哦! 是吗?(ohh, really?)
宝贝:嗯。所以我陪妈妈睡。(yes. So I went to her room to accompany her) *she beams*

Awwww…. I am so touched!! I must be the luckiest mom on Earth. Where can I find a sweeter and more sensitive little girl than her??

My darling with her orange carrot juice mustache.
