My Little Van Gogh

My Little Van Gogh

Simple Joys in Life

“Mom! I drew this in class for you! I love you!”

“Teacher Allen outlined the red flower for me but I coloured it. I did the rest myself!” She confessed.

The rest of the lines looked shaky enough to be drawn by her.

“BUT I chose all the colours myself!” She declared proudly.

It’s definitely not a Van Gogh. But it’s not every day that a 3 year old draws something specially for me and presents it with a declaration of love. I’m the luckiest mom on Earth! *beams*

A Wonderful Start to a Brand New Year 2013

A Wonderful Start to a Brand New Year 2013

This is a momentous day so I must blog about it before it’s over.

I received a surprise bouquet. First one since the one I received for my birthday 4 years back!! He saved a lot of money huh?!

We have decided not to buy flowers on cut throat days e.g. Valentine’s day. Why let the florists earn the extra amount?! May as well give the cash to me. But sigh…. Conveniently, the number of bouquets dwindled to nil.

Anyway, to look on the bright side, it’s a brand new year. A cheery bouquet on 01.01.2013 kickstarts a promising new year. It can double up as a new year’s bouquet, early valentine’s for all I care.

To be grateful for what I have and to cherish them is one of my resolutions for year 2013 and every year after.

Cheers everyone! I’m looking forward to the next few days when I will receive the greatest gift for the year of 2013!! :)

Akan datang!!

A Surprise A Day…

A Surprise A Day…

A very pleasant surprise was in store for me this very morning. My barren plant blossomed!! I’ve had it for a year. When I bought it from the nursery, it was flowering (as usual). The salesperson assured me that it would bloom all round the year in Singapore. Ya right… So I bought 3 little pots.

After their initial blooms, it was literally greenery all the way. Zzz. I did as I was instructed. I trimmed them after the flowers wilted and added fertilizer. And nothing happened.

I faithfully followed the ritual once every few weeks and still nothing happened. Gardening doesn’t seem like my cup of tea.

Finally it’s just down to the bare minimum of watering them to keep them alive…

One year later, with just water as their staple, one of them flowered!!

Some people must be thinking… Waaa so *Bo liao… One little flower also blog. Well it’s one of the little things we don’t take note of in life. Smell the flowers that grow at the side of the roads, marvel at the beautiful blue sky (after days of haze), appreciate the little things in life.

It’s a beautiful day, a wonderful life. :)
