101 Sleeping Positions – Position #2

101 Sleeping Positions – Position #2

I wonder if I can really capture 101 sleeping positions of 小小宝贝. It’ll be a fun project!

After the 大字形 position 1, here’s the next one.

This is a normal, boring straight up, standard position.

He’s so straight that he’s almost parallel with the bolsters!

He’s sleeping with his rosebud mouth open. Babies have such cute sleeping positions!! ???

101 Sleeping Positions – Position #1

I’m starting a series of sleeping positions for my sweetie 小小宝贝.

1st position : 180° 大字形. Effectively taking up half a king size bed. One leg propped up on the bolster.

He looks pretty sweet in pink. ? Looks like someone has to sleep on the floor tonight….

Bao on the Head!

Bao on the Head!

It was lunchtime. I was trying to mix all the ingredients in the claypot when I turned around…. In time to see my 小小宝贝 hurtle head down from the high chair. He hit his head on the cement floor with a loud thud and food flew everywhere from his full mouth.

I screamed so loudly that the cooks ran out from the restaurant kitchen. He was inert when I picked him up. Then he bawled his lungs out. My first thought was,”damn!! Head concussion!!!” It didn’t help that there was a huge swelling on his forehead. It freaked me out. And he refused to stop crying.

The waiter literally ran to me when I requested for an ice bag. I wrapped it in one of his spare romper and applied it to his head.

Checked for other injuries. None. It was only the huge egg on his head.

His face didn’t turn pale or blue. Checked. No liquid or blood from his ears or nose. Checked. Eyes looked normal to me. Checked. No vomiting. Checked. Whatever I could check, I did.

He finally stopped crying after a long while and fell asleep. That was the longest 30 mins of my life….

Everyone was not in the mood for lunch. I spooned some rice into my mouth. Ok. Enough for me to survive til dinner.

Packed everyone home. Bathed him. Got him to nap.

He woke up. Co ordinated crawling and body movements. Checked. Able to pick up his blocks and bash them on the mat. Checked. Behaved like normal. Checked. Laughed at his sister’s antics. Checked.

A small sigh of relief. Possibility of concussion has diminished. Observation for the next 24 hours.

The swelling has gone down a lot at the point when the photo was taken.

A close up of his bua luku.

24 hours was over. Thank goodness.

Next time I’m going to chain him to the chair. All eyes on him, in case he does a “David Copperfield” on us and wriggles out of captivity.

It was one of the longest day in my life!!

Sweet Baby Breath

Sweet Baby Breath

Joy is to have one arm tucked around 小小宝贝 while he sleeps. One arm and one leg sprawled over me; his baby face just 5 cm from mine; eyes closed with long sooty eyelashes over his cheeks; rosebud mouth slightly opened; gently breathing while he sleeps.

I can smell his sweet baby fragrant breath, so near to my face.

I’m going to have a crick in my neck, from lying in this unnatural position. Not too long though because my little man will grow up all too quickly.

Food Diary Day 19 – Sweet Pea Purée

Food Diary Day 19 – Sweet Pea Purée

This is the first store bought purée (well, minus the Heinz apple one which was unintentional) for 小小宝贝.

We had prepared sweet pea purée for 宝贝 a few years back. After our first attempt, we vowed not to do it again. It simply wasn’t worth the hassle.

In case, you are interested in the preparation procedure…
Buy a bag of frozen green peas from any supermarket.
Steam them for 10 mins.
Blend them.
Press the purée against a sieve to get rid of the hard skin.

It was the last step that “killed” us.

After sieving one big serving of green pea (the sieving took at least 15 minutes), we ended up with just 1/3 of it. Pathetic. After all that hard work….

So, while I shun off the shelf purée, the Healthy Times sweet pea purée is good enough for me.

Food Diary Day 13 – Sweet Potato Purée

Food Diary Day 13 – Sweet Potato Purée

小小宝贝’s purée repertoire has expanded. I’ve introduced him his first root – sweet potato.

Sweet potatoes are rich in complex carbohydrates, dietary fiber, beta-carotene (a provitamin A carotenoid), vitamin C, vitamin B6, manganese and potassium.

I’m slowly adding on food from every category and colours. I love colourful food!

Preparation :
Steam the sweet potato for 15-20 mins.
Skin it. After steaming, the flesh detaches easily from the skin. Blend it.
